Activities at Fasque Estate

As if the Estate isn’t enough, your quiet country retreat has much to enjoy right on its doorstep. An easy drive opens up a world of activities to try and historic sites to explore.

We have a wide range of activities that we can take care of and organise for you, but if you are looking to find adventure in your own time, here are a few ideas to get you started.

Golf

It’s hardly surprising to find a breathtaking selection of golf courses in the game’s natural home. Championship links at St Andrews and Carnoustie are tantalisingly close, but don’t overlook some of the more local golf courses at Brechin, Letham Grange, Stonehaven and Montrose. Fine fairways and magnificent views all round.

Castles

Country houses and castles abound in this part of Scotland. Crathes Castle and Gardens near Banchory is the stuff of fairytales with its turrets and gargoyles. There are garden and woodland walks, as well as craft activities for kids. The ruins of Dunnottar Castle may look familiar to film fans: the castle was one of the inspirations for Disney Pixar’s animated Brave.

Whisky Distilleries

Each region of Scotland adds its own accents and nuances to the national drink. Dating back to 1824, Fettercairn Distillery near Laurencekirk is one of Scotland’s oldest malt whisky distilleries and open for summer tours Monday to Saturday. For more imformation on Tours, please visit www.fettercairnwhisky.com/en/visit-us

Royal Lochnagar Distillery lies next to Balmoral Castle in Royal Deeside and retains much of its original charm. Match your desire for whisky knowledge to one of Lochnagar’s three tours throughout the year.

Family Activities

Brechin Castle Centre provides a variety of activities for families: a miniature railway, nature trails, a model farm and Pictavia, where you can discover the culture and history of the Picts. The visitor centre at Montrose Basin Nature Reserve gives you a telescopic view of local wildlife, from migratory birds to seals.

Nearby attractions such as St. Cyrus beach, Stonehaven beach with open-air swimming pool and Lunan Bay that offers Land Yachting (Booking required), beach kayaking, family days and much more.
